Macduff 25 Year Old Bottling Note
25 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the Macduff distillery, bottled by us as part of our Single Cask Series collection. Back in May 1990, this whisky was distilled and filled into a Sherry cask. 25 years later, in August 2015, we bottled it at 55% ABV without even a thought of chill-filtering it or adding artificial colouring.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Mouthwatering stuff here. Loads of stewed apple and fresh chocolate-chip cookie wafts. A little hint of Christmas cake and cane sugar (which develops a subtle grassiness - a bit rhum agricole-like).
Palate: Dark chocolate, old oak and nutmeg. Honey-roasted cashew notes give balance to sweeter hints of chocolate-covered raisins. Apple slices return on the mid-palate.
Finish: Waxy red liquorice, black pepper and a touch of blackcurrant jam.
