Campbeltown 6yo TBWC Bottling Note
Back for a second batch, it's a six year old expression of Campbeltown Blended Malt from That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Finished in Oloroso sherry casks, it's brimming with rich, fruit and spice. The label shows similar mayhem to Batch 1, with a town that appears to have been overrun with highland cows and spoons! We think the spoons might relate to a certain technique used for blending whisky, but we're not sure and certainly don't want to upset the folks on the label – they look cross enough as it is, waving their arms and tearing their hair out in the foreground of the scene.
Nose: Savoury herbs and a touch of hay, suggestions of dried meats lead to buttery honeyed bread, dried stone fruits, a hint of ginger.
Palate: Sweet, nutty malt aplenty, with good spicy notes of cinnamon and pepper balanced by some zesty citrus peel and poached fruit.
Finish: Spicy warmth lingers, ginger continues alongside cinnamon with rich, peppery oak leading to toasted nuts.
