Notizen:
Set on the northern coastline of Caithness, in the north Highlands of Scotland, the dilapidated Castle of Mey was purchased in 1952 by the late Queen Mother following the death of her husband King George VI.
Following its renovation she holidayed at the castle for almost fifty years and to celebrate her 70th birthday a traditional Highland Games was given to her as a birthday present by the locals. So impressed was she with the event she insisted it become an annual event and many years on the games continue to go from strength to strength. Now presided over by King Charles III and held a short distance away from the castle grounds at John O’Groats the Mey Games is a great day out for all.
