Glenrothes 10 YO Batch 2 Bottling Note
Like the first batch, That Boutique-y Whisky Company' second release of Glenrothes single malt features the ghost of Biawa 'Byeway' Makalaga, a popular resident of Rothes was rescued from starvation in Bulawayo by Major Grant as a child. It's claimed that his ghost was seen twice when two new stills were installed seven years after his death, possibly disturbing a ley line in the process. Whatever you choose to believe, the stills were moved, no more ghosts were seen and the tradition of the 'toast to the ghost' was born!
New to batch 2 is the additional of an age statement, something that you'll see on all Boutique-y releases from April 2016 onwards.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Oomph - big Sherry influence! Sherried oak with brandy butter and a hint of milk stout developing.
Palate: As promised by the nose, if a touch sweeter, with dried fruit, worn leather, oak and a particularly pleasant mouthfeel.
Finish: Sticky figs and more sweet Sherried oak.
Overall: Extraordinary Sherry influence for a 10 year old. Top stuff.
