Cucamelon Gin - TBGC Bottling Note
The cucamelon is a fruit which looks like a fun-sized watermelon but tastes like a lime-dipped cucumber. It may sound like something Willy Wonka would create after being told by his doctor that a diet based entirely around sweets can only lead to an early grave, but the cucamelon is a real thing. So real, in fact, That Boutique-y Gin Company went ahead and made a gin with it!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Fresh and lightly spiced, warm juniper and clove studded orange come through first, with a hint of lime. Mint and basil leaf rise, with a touch of liquorice root.
Palate: Soft and creamy delivery with some floral oiliness. There’s Bergamot orange, vanilla-y angelica and prickles of spicy juniper and fennel. Some lime sweetness develops - almost Key Lime Pie-esque!
Finish: The juniper maintains as anise and Liquorice Allsorts grow, with a candied citrus edge.
