Ardbeg 12 Year Old 2003 Bottling Note
If your 'Ardbeg-senses' just started tingling, it's likely because we've independently bottled a fantastic 12 year old Ardbeg single malt! This was distilled in April 2003 and matured in a refill hogshead for a dozen years until we bottled it November 2015. Dig in to some fantastic Islay whisky, folks! Also, check it out - these come presented with our innovative glass closures!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Toasted barley, smoked meats, burnt sugar and a sweeter hint of pineapple. Robust cooking spices develop after a minute (which goes well with the smoked meat notes).
Palate: Citrus gives it a sweetness up front. This is followed by honey-roasted pistachio and medicinal peat, with a little bit of sweet coastal air.
Finish: Still shows off coastal sweetness, alongside pear, apple, and a touch of white chocolate.
Overall: An ace Caol Ila which shows great balance between sweetness and savoury coastal notes.
